At home with Carter Were

Carter Were, co-author of Carter's Cook Book and mother of two girls Patience and Dorothy is the very essence of creative, conscious, multi-tasking motherhood. Her daughters are always close and their behaviour and development is intuitively known and lovingly communicated, alongside her attentive partner Jack, of the gently psychedelic band Babe Rainbow. An Enzo Mari and primary colour enthusiast, Carter has recently opened the doors of The Banana Shed, an Airbnb located on their family property in the Northern Rivers of NSW. Inside you'll witness furniture made by Jack, textiles sewn and sourced by Carter's sister Harry who lives in their homeland of New Zealand, rice paper blinds and a fully equipped and very well thought out kitchen. Something you'd expect from someone who enjoys cooking as much as Carter.

Opening the fridge door to hand squeezed mandarin juice and tiny bottles of Campari is, but a small taste of the thoughtful elements that speckle your stay at The Banana Shed. Quiet details that also serve as a defining signature of Carter Were. Home grown, full of flavour and colour, uncompromisingly and influentially herself, from her sky blue jewelled hair slide, to the bright yellow rubber Birkenstock clogs left at the front door.
